Credit score

In plain English

A number produced by a credit reference agency that summarises your credit history. Lenders use it — alongside their own scoring systems — to decide whether to lend to you and at what rate. There are three main UK credit reference agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

Example

A score of 881 on Experian's scale (0–999) would be classified as "Good".
